Infrastructure Success Stories
Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project
Opposite were the lead Human Factors specialists for one of Melbourne’s largest rail infrastructure project in decades.
We provided support from our specialists during the design, construction, and completion stages of the project, working alongside the Alliance for the entire project lifecycle. Our consultant, Marty Lynch, was one of the last workers on the project, coordinating the final completion details and writing up its final reports.
At the end of the four-year engagement, Opposite delivered:
• 200+ designs reviewed across all design phases
• Supporting user-centred design solutions
• Technical support for managing project requirements
• Handover assurance reports
• Specialist safety advice

Level Crossing Removal Project

Following the success of the Caulfied to Dandeong Project, our consultants were invited to support five other major level crossing removal Alliances, including:
- North-East Program Alliance
- Western Program Alliance
- South-East Program Alliance
- North-West Program Alliance
- Southern Program Alliance
In total, we’ve completed and coordinated hundreds of design reviews, multiple safety studies, provided safety advice and conducted critical safety assurance activities to ensure the infrastructure is safe and fit-for-purpose for the public.
We have developed an automated tool called Easy-U that streamlines user-centred design assessments and utilises the findings from hundreds of design reviews
